HISTORY – In 1960, Bill and the Jackson County Bar started the planning for a Jackson County Legal Services program. They developed the Legal Aid Committee. Back then, Bill said “people went to court more often than they do now. Individuals would get judgments they could not afford. If they got a garnishment on their pay, they would not have enough money to feed their children”. The Center for NonProfit Legal Services was incorporated in 1972, and continues to offer free legal services to the poor and vulnerable residents in Jackson County.
